Write an argumentative text in just 40 minutes?! When people hear about the exam rules during a consultation, many are shocked. Especially when 5–7 of those forty minutes will need to be spent checking their work…
Despite the humanitarian component of the question, I recommend including a mathematical approach here.
For example, in an argumentative text TEF there are 5 paragraphs: introduction, conclusion and 3 arguments.
Total: 7 minutes per paragraph. And this is already a lot.
The introduction, conclusion and beginning of the argument can be prepared in advance. There is no need to memorize and keep ready-made templates in your head - just understand the structure, outline of the text, and remember key phrases. This way you will gain time in favor of the more difficult part.
Be sure to practice writing before the exam. If you have a hand full of texts, the process will go faster.
And one more point that stops many is which side to choose for argumentation. It is a mistake to honestly express the point of view that you actually hold if there is no prepared answer for it.
Remember, what is important here is, first of all, the arguments that you know and understand well.
Let’s say, if you don’t support feminism, but for some reason only theses in defense of equality come to mind, forget about honesty. It really doesn’t matter during the exam...
