How long should you study before taking TEF/TCF?

Almost every first conversation with a new student turns to the question of TIME. And I don’t mean verb tenses.

▪️How long will it take to learn a language to the required level?
▪️How many lessons per week do you need to take to get the desired score?
▪️How many hours a day should you study if the exam is in 2 months?

Honestly, I never give guarantees right away.

Yes, there is a European competency scale that roughly outlines how many hours are required for each of the six levels.
Yes, we understand that the path from A1 to A2 is usually shorter than the path from B1 to B2. The higher the level, the more difficult it becomes.

But nevertheless, each case is very individual. It all depends on the specific person, his personal desire, motivating goals and objective input data (time, finances, etc.).

✔️Some students are initially enthusiastic. It seems to them that they will now rush into battle, study for days, work at maximum speed... And in a couple of months they will reach their goal.

But time passes, and now the student misses classes, comes unprepared, in short, gets blown away. In this mode, of course, we will talk about other deadlines.

✔️There is also the opposite category of those who underestimate themselves. Moreover, you look at a person - he seems to speak his first language perfectly, and his abilities are extraordinary, and over time everything is fine. But for some reason he got it into his head, “Oh, you have to study for 5 years to pass,” and he slows himself down.

Here we return again to my favorite topic - strong motivation. Those who learn a language the fastest are those who really need it urgently.

If you clearly see your task, you can plan your efforts and approximately understand how long it will all take. At the same time, do not forget that the rhythm of work should also be comfortable so that you do not burn out.
