01This is one of the documents that it is better to think about in advance.
For Express Entry, rules vary by country.
02Country where you currently live
The certificate must be issued no more than 6 months prior to submission and must not be expired.
03Other countries
Typically the certificate must be issued after the last period you lived there for 6 consecutive months or longer.
If the certificate cannot be received by the deadline, IRCC allows you to upload:
- letter of explanation;
- evidence that you attempted to obtain the document in a timely manner.
For example, a receipt, order confirmation, tracking number or explanation of the authority that issues the certificate.
But this does not mean automatic release from the document. The officer decides whether your attempts were sufficient.
