New TCF rules

France Education Internationale, as usual, does not separately announce important changes to its rules. Most often I find out about them by accident.

A new version of the Manuel du candidat was published in April 2026. Reading through it today, I noticed a new passage highlighted in red.

Previously, such warnings concerned only the written part. But now in the April version a separate warning has been added for expression orale.

According to Manuel du candidat, the oral part can be assessed as “A1 non atteint” if the candidate simply recites the text learned by heart. Such speech is considered not to reflect the real level and can be regarded as fraude.

Therefore, it is important to understand: you need to memorize useful structures, have prepared phrases that can be easily adapted to the context - yes. But simply reproducing a pre-memorized text in whole or in parts during an exam is a risky strategy.

Forewarned is forearmed.
