Affidavit переводчика — это sworn statement самого человека, который выполнил перевод: перед authorized commissioner он подтверждает language proficiency и accuracy перевода. Это не affidavit заявителя, не подпись нотариуса о содержании immigration evidence и не apostille. General IRCC Help Centre требует для supporting document не на English/French translation, affidavit translator и certified photocopy original, если IRCC не сказал иначе. Program-specific guides уточняют исключение: когда перевод выполнен Canadian certified translator — member in good standing provincial/territorial organization — affidavit обычно не нужен. Всегда применяйте exact current guide/checklist.

Certification route
Проверьте membership in good standing provincial/territorial organization и точное имя/stamp. Translation должна быть complete, readable и связана с source copy. Current EE guidance позволяет приложить короткое explanation, что affidavit не нужен because certified translator was used. Не называйте любой Canadian business или multilingual employee certified translator без professional membership.
Affidavit route
Translator completes full translation and personally swears/affirms proficiency and accuracy before person authorized in that jurisdiction. Проверяются authority, date, identity, document description and link between affidavit and translation. Notary signature alone без translator oath не создаёт требуемое statement. Local form can differ; controlling IRCC guide and local law both matter.
Conflict and prohibition risk
Не используйте applicant или family member для translation/certification, если current instruction запрещает это. Даже fluent relative и нотариально заверенная подпись не автоматически исправляют prohibited role. Закажите independent translator, сохраните new version and explain only if previous submission already contained improper translation. Никогда не скрывайте relationship.
Incomplete packet
IRCC оценивает translation вместе с source document. General instruction q018 names certified photocopy; exact online guide may describe scans/stamps/copies differently. Соберите every page, reverse side, stamp, seal, annotation and continuation. Affidavit cannot replace missing original-language page, unreadable scan or wrong issuing document.

Applicant/family relationship checked before engagement.
Translation reproduces names, dates, numbers, headings, stamps, seals, signatures, annotations and illegible portions transparently. Transliteration is consistent with passport/forms, but source spelling is not silently rewritten. Translator marks unreadable text instead of guessing and identifies each source page. Visual imitation of official seal is unnecessary and can mislead; translated label and page mapping are clearer.
Translator, not applicant, appears before commissioner/notary/other person authorized to administer oaths in that country. Statement identifies translator, language pair, competence, documents/pages and belief that translation is true and accurate. Authorized person completes local jurat, date, signature/seal and authority. Remote ceremony is used only if local law and recipient allow it.
Follow exact guide for certified photocopy/source scan. Verify all pages, certification wording, authorized signer and family-member restriction. Link source → translation → affidavit/certification with filenames and page index, but never detach original apostille. Test readability after scan/compression, preserve colour where seals require context and archive final transmitted version plus confirmation.

General Help Centre says supporting document not in English/French should include translation, translator affidavit and certified photocopy unless IRCC says otherwise. Program guides may state that affidavit is required when translation is not done by a Canadian certified translator. Apply exact current guide/checklist. Translator who completed the translation swears/affirms language proficiency and that translation is true and accurate to original. Person authorized to administer oaths witnesses/administers ceremony and completes jurat. Applicant does not swear accuracy for someone else’s translation, and notary does not silently become translator merely by stamping a signature.
IRCC q040 says commissioner authorized to administer oaths in the country where translator lives. Program guides give examples for Canada, such as notary public, commissioner of oaths or commissioner of taking affidavits, while authority varies by province/territory and foreign jurisdiction. Verify local law and current guide; do not promise that any person called “notary” qualifies everywhere.
Current Express Entry and several IRCC guides distinguish Canadian certified translator and generally do not require separate affidavit for that route. Confirm member in good standing and current application wording. A translator located in Canada is not automatically Canadian certified. Preserve professional stamp/identity and source/translation mapping even when affidavit is not required.
Do not use applicant or family member where instruction prohibits translations/certification by them. Independence matters even if relative is fluent. A notary stamp does not necessarily cure prohibited role. Engage independent qualified translator and disclose relationship if an earlier submission used a relative; do not fabricate or hide who prepared the translation.

Current EE page explicitly says stamps and seals not in English/French must also be translated. Translate every meaningful element, identify unreadable content honestly and map to source page. If apostille is included and not English/French, verify its translation treatment. Do not redraw seal as if translator issued it; label and translate content.
Use the wording of exact guide. Often requirement is translator affidavit sworn before authorized person when translator is not Canadian certified, plus applicable source-copy certification. “Notarized translation” is an imprecise market phrase that can hide which role was performed. Ask for translation, affidavit/jurat and copy certification as separate deliverables.
Only after confirming it covers the exact current source version, every page/stamp, current names and applicable guide. A later apostille, correction, reissued certificate or new reverse-side entry creates a new scope. Verify translator certification/affidavit and copy chain remain valid and readable; do not append changed page without updating affidavit identification.
