Requesting a TCF Canada score review
This article wraps up a dull but very important topic: requesting a review of your TEF/TCF Canada results. In an earlier article, I took a detailed look at the procedure for TEF. Today we’ll talk about what to do if you think that you passed TCF better than the points you received for it.
The official website says that each test taker has the opportunity to review the results in two parts of the test - oral and written.
And this is direct progress when compared with TEF. ⠀
In order for the commission to re-check your oral or written answers, you need to pay from 20 to 80 euros no later than 30 days after receiving the results and make a request. It is written in French right in the center where you took the test.
If your scores change after re-checking, you will receive a new certificate in exchange for the old one and the old results will be cancelled. ⠀
Everything is written beautifully, but, unfortunately, not every time the appeal ends with a happy ending. I've read about several cases where people "fit in" to this process and lost valuable time and money. And yet, one cannot ignore the fact that recently a positive trend has emerged, and more and more people are receiving a score increase after re-testing. From here I conclude that each case is individual and sometimes it is more profitable to strain yourself and retake the entire exam than to flatter yourself with hopes that the result will be revised in your favor, and sometimes it is easier to pay for a recheck. In any case, the maximum you risk is money.
Still, it’s better if you insure yourself in advance:
- choose an exam that will be easy to take and retake geographically and financially
- calculate how many points for each part you need to score for your goals
- Study the clear requirements for each part for the level you need. ⠀
I have no other advice on this matter, so the topic of appeals in French TEF/TCF can be considered exhausted. ⠀
