First-term results

I was waiting for my first-term results. I waited a long time, patiently, with a slight nervous eye twitch, refreshing my student account a hundred times a day. At last, the results arrived. But, as so often happens, things were not quite that simple.

Karma is inventive. Believe in it or not, one day it gives you a long look, narrows its eyes like a stern examiner and says, ‘Well then, shall we see how you do on your own?’

I always favor appeals. I tell my students: don’t give up, fight for every point. The result is not what you wanted, but it's not over yet. File an appeal, and perhaps the result will be completely different ‼️

So, it seems that life has decided that it’s time for me to go through this test.

December 23. Last exam. The fifth subject is refugees. The most difficult test, with open questions where you can’t answer at random. I know the material, I am confident in my answers. Against the backdrop of the fatigue that has accumulated over the trimester, this seems like the last frontier - I cross it, and freedom! 🦜

Christmas, New Year, a short vacation - I finally exhale. But something is wrong. Anxious anticipation hung in the air. I go into the student office, I want to see the grades - it’s empty. No exam, no practical work on refugees. Okay, I'm waiting. January goes on as usual, grades in other subjects appear one after another. And this object is like a mirage in the desert. No results.

January 23. The official day of publication of statements. I open my profile - and here it is, a punch in the gut: S- (failure). Compared to A and B in other disciplines, it looks as if you were confidently driving the car all the way, and at the very end you turned into a ditch.

There's a lump in my throat. I remember all my students, everyone who went through this. What would I tell them? “Don’t panic, don’t give up, figure it out.” Fine. I pull myself together. I write to the teacher - silence. I write to the administration - silence. As the days go by, options naturally flash in my head: “Maybe I really failed everything? Maybe I didn’t understand something?”

I correspond with classmates and check in with university groups. Everywhere there is one answer - “Errors are excluded. Nothing can be fixed." Come on, seriously? But where is my practical work? Where is my exam grade? It turns out that the teacher is not obliged to post them and can simply finalize the report.

And now, when I had already turned a little grey, the answer came: “There is a feeling that your work has simply not been verified.”

Great. Two weeks of hassle for the “feeling”.

A few more days of negotiations with management - and finally the assessment is corrected. Instead of C- there is an A.

The list has been updated, you can breathe out. But there is no time.

Before I had time to enjoy the happiness, the second trimester was already on my heels.

But one thing I know for sure: your results are always worth fighting for. Because who else needs them AS much as we do?
